Nggwane V.

Nggwane V. (* 1876 , † December 10, 1899 ) was King of Swaziland from February 1895 until his death . He is sometimes referred to as King Bhunu.

The brief reign of Nggwane V was marked by ongoing tensions which culminated in the war between the United Kingdom and the Boers from the Transvaal and Orange Free State .

The king has been tried for his alleged participation in the murder of chief Indvuna Mbhabha Nsibandze . He was acquitted, but was fined a hefty fine for allowing public unrest. He also had to bear the procedural costs.

Nggwane V. died unexpectedly during the sacred Incwala ceremony at the age of only 23. His death was kept secret until the end of the ceremony.
