Minh Phuong Nguyen (Vietnamese spelling Nguyễn Minh Phương ; * July 5, 1980 ) is a Vietnamese football player .

Career

Nguyen has been playing in the V-League with Đồng Tâm Long An since 2003 and in the Vietnamese national football team since 2002 . From 1998 to 2002 Nguyen played with Thép Miền Nam Cảng Sài Gòn .

In 2001/02, 2005 and 2006 the midfielder was Vietnamese champion with his respective club, in 2000 and 2005 he won the Vietnamese cup competition . In 2006 he won the Vietnamese Supercup .

At the 2007 Asian football championship , he led his team as captain into the quarter-finals, in which the team lost 2-0 to the eventual tournament winners Iraq .

In 2010 he was awarded the Vietnamese Golden Ball as Player of the Year.
