Nice Little Penguins is a Danish music trio that became known through the song " Flying " from the album of the same name or through the cover of the hit " Daydream Believer " by the Monkees .
Foundation and history
The actual formation of the band took place in 1983 when Bo Feierskov and the two brothers Michael and Carsten Kolster got together to play their music. They started as a background group for the Danish singer Ania Sandig and could be heard on her single "Du Tænker" ( EMI ).
Then Bo and Michael turned to a career as a duo, while Carsten worked as a professional drummer , until they reunited in 1987 and enriched their repertoire as a trio with a mixture of genres of jazz , beat , Nordic folk songs and various original compositions and thus their own style had found.
The three built more and more of their own ideas into their pieces, which met with great approval in the audience, and it soon became clear that the group had set itself apart from others in its class. From around the beginning of 1992, the three men finally worked as professional musicians and called themselves Nice Little Penguins . The name had its roots in the founders' intentions to use the apparently harmless-sounding term to differentiate themselves from the aggressive attitude of the defining rock milieu of that time. The artists' intellectual role models included the Beatles , The Police and Crowded House .
