Nicholas Banda

Nicholas Banda (born April 1950 ) is a politician in Zambia .

In 2004, Nicholas Banda was Senior Officer in the Child Development Department at the Department of Sport, Youth and Child Development. His tasks there seem to have primarily concerned the issue of AIDS orphans, and therefore a task with intensive international communication and the aim of bringing as many projects and financial resources into the country as possible.

In the 2006 election in Zambia , Nicholas Banda stood for the Movement for Multiparty Democracy in the Kapoche constituency in the eastern province south of Petauke and won the mandate in the National Assembly of Zambia against the then incumbent member of the Forum for Democracy and Development, Charles Banda . In October 2006 he was appointed Deputy Minister for Local Development and Social Services.

Charles Banda successfully challenged the election result before the Lusaka High Court . A by-election, to which Nicholas Banda ran again, was scheduled for June 5, 2006.
