Nicholas Samuel, 5th Viscount Bearsted

Nicholas Alan Samuel, 5th Viscount Bearsted (born January 22, 1950 ) is a British peer , entrepreneur and former politician ( Conservative Party ).

Life

He was born the son of Peter Montefiore Samuel Samuel, 4th Viscount Bearsted (1911–1996) and his wife Elizabeth Adelaide Cohen (1919–1983). After the death of his father on June 9, 1996, he inherited the title of Viscount Bearsted as 5th Viscount Bearsted, of Maidstone, in the County of Kent ( Peerage of the United Kingdom , 1925) and the associated title of 5th Baronet Samuel (Peerage of the United Kingdom, 1903).

Samuel visited the Eton College and studied at New College of Oxford University . There he obtained a bachelor's degree in chemistry in 1972 .

He has been an independent entrepreneur and investor since 1977 . He founded several of his own companies and companies. Since 1980 he worked as a management consultant and as a consultant for computer technology (Corporate and Computer Consultant), particularly in the implementation of software solutions in the medical field. He has been the owner of NA Samuel Consultancy since 1980 . He was the founder and director of Alliance Imaging Inc (founded in 1984; director 1984–1987) and Alliance Medical plc (director 1990–2006), service and consulting firms in the field of medical and diagnostic imaging. He was also a director of the consulting and investment firm Samuel Properties plc (1975-1985), the Maybourn Group plc (1984-1987) and the St James's Venture Capital Fund (1983-1992). He was Chairman of the Board of Management of the software development company Insignia Solutions plc (1988–2006) and CEO of Hulton-Deutsch Collection Ltd , one of the world's largest photo archives for historical recordings.

He is currently (as of January 2014) Chairman of Powerstax plc (since 1997), IPV Ltd. and Director (Director) of Family Network Inc. and DataWind Inc. since November 2007. He is also Director (Director) of the software consulting firm Future IT Solutions Inc .

Membership in the House of Lords

Upon inheriting the title of Viscount Bearsted, Samuel became an official member of the House of Lords on June 9, 1996 . In the House of Lords he sat for the Conservative Party . In the 1997/1998 session he took the oath as a member of the House of Lords, but was no longer present during the session. In Hansard No requests to speak for Samuel are documented. He also did not take part in votes. His membership in the House of Lords ended on November 11, 1999 by the House of Lords Act 1999 .

Samuel does not belong to the Hereditary Peerage Association. He is not listed in the House of Lords Register of Hereditary Peers , which are available for by-election.

Family and private

Samuel married Caroline Jane Sacks, the daughter of Dr. David Sacks. The marriage had five children, four daughters and one son. In 1999, the year he left the House of Lords, he gave 9 Acacia Road, London , as his place of residence.

His hobbies include bridge and puzzles .
