Nicholas of Lynne

Nicholas of Lynne , also Latinized Nicolas de Linna , (* around 1330 probably in Norfolk ; † after 1386) was a Carmelite and astronomer .

Nicholas of Lynne became a Carmelite , according to John Bale , a 16th century historian, and studied at Oxford . In 1386 he published a "calendar" with astronomical tables up to 1462 on behalf of John of Gaunt .

He later became known through his work Inventio Fortunata , in which he describes the mythical Magnetberg .
