Not Without My Mother (Original Title: Room for Two ) is an American sitcom that aired on ABC from 1992 to 1993 . The German-language first broadcast was on RTL2 in 1994 (at that time the station did not write itself with the Roman numeral).

The widow Edie Kurland ( Linda Lavin ) from Ohio wants to bring new momentum to her life. She decides to live with her daughter Jill ( Patricia Heaton ) in New York, where she works as a producer for the local breakfast television, Wake Up, New York . Thanks to her extroverted nature, she happens to get her own column on breakfast television. Living together with their daughter often leads to minor disputes between the two, but in the end the two form a good team both privately and professionally.
