Nicholas Francis "Nicky" Bailey (born June 10, 1984 in London , England ) is an English football player . He is currently active for the English second division club Millwall FC .
Club career
Nicky Bailey began his career at the age of 17 with the sub-class amateur club Sutton United . In the summer of 2004, the midfielder moved to FC Barnet in the Conference National . At Barnet he became a regular player and rose with the club in the 2004/05 season in the Football League Two . In the following two seasons Bailey managed to stay with Barnet. In late June 2007 he moved to Southend United in Football League One for £ 175,000 . He scored nine goals this season and finished sixth in League One with Southend, thus reaching the playoff games for promotion to the championship . However, Bailey was clearly defeated with Southend by the Doncaster Rovers and missed promotion. The midfielder then left the club and signed with Charlton Athletic . Although Charlton finished last in the championship in the 2008/09 season and was relegated, Nick Bailey was part of the regular lineup, and he scored most of the team with 13 goals this season. In the 2009/10 season, Bailey took over the captaincy after the former captain Zheng Zhi left the club for Celtic Glasgow .
In July 2010, the midfielder left the third division Charlton Athletic and signed a three-year contract with Middlesbrough FC . The Boro paid a fee of £ 1.4 million to his former employer, Charlton Athletic, for his services. Through a contractually agreed clause, Southend United will receive £ 225,000 of the transfer fee.
National team
Bailey played four games for England's C national team in 2005. He was called up by Paul Fairclough , who was then coach of Barnet FC and the England C national team.
