Nico Buwalda (born June 25, 1890 in Weesp , † June 13, 1970 ) was a Dutch football player.

Buwalda started playing football at Rapiditas Weesp . He later moved to Ajax Amsterdam , where he played as a faster left winger in 20 competitive games. Together with his teammate Gé Fortgens , he was the club's star player. In the spring of 1914 he made his debut in the Dutch national football team in a friendly against Germany . He played a second international match three weeks later against Belgium. Then the First World War ended his career as a national player.

After Ajax's relegation in 1914, he left the club and went to Hercules Utrecht . In the 1922/23 season he returned to Ajax and played there again eight games, his last on January 27, 1923. He then let his career end with his home club Rapiditas Weesp.

In the mid-1990s, the newly built Amsterdam Arena adorns the catacombs with his portrait.
