Nico Marius Adriani ter Linden (born July 26, 1936 in Amersfoort , † January 28, 2018 in Amsterdam ) was a Dutch Reformed theologian and writer .

life and career

Nico ter Linden studied theology in Utrecht and in the United States of America . He was pastor of the Protestantse Kerk in Nederland in Stompetoren , Alkmaar , Nijmegen and from 1977 to 1995 in the Westerkerk of Amsterdam. From this church his own television show entitled Op verhaal komen in de Wester (Getting into conversation from the Westerkirche) was broadcast. Nico was the younger brother of Carel ter Linden . Carel was pastor at the Kloosterkerk in The Hague .

As an author, Nico ter Linden was best known for the series "It is told ...", in which he retold the Bible in his own way . The sixth and last part was published at the end of 2004. Nico ter Linden had his own column in the Dutch daily Trouw .

Ter Linden is assigned to the Amsterdam School of Theology , which is characterized by the deliberate inclusion of Jewish perspectives in the understanding and translation of the Bible.

Nico ter Linden spoke fluent German. Some of his works have been translated into German.
