Nicola Deaton

Nicola Deaton , married. Perry (born October 1976 ) is an English table tennis player . She was one of the best players in England in the 1990s and took part in at least three world championships and three European championships.

Career

Nicola Deaton comes from a table tennis family. Her father Colin Deaton played internationally for England in his youth, her mother Sandra became president (chairman) of the English table tennis association ETTA in 2014 . Nicola started playing table tennis at the age of six under the guidance of her father. She achieved her first international success in 1991 at the European Youth Championships, where she won silver in doubles with Sally Marling.

From 1990 to 2002 Nicola Deaton won a total of 17 titles at the national English championships , six of them in singles, six in doubles and five in mixed. The period 1999 to 2002 is remarkable, in which she won the title four times in a row with Helen Lower in both singles and doubles .

She took part in world championships three times , namely in 1993 , 1995 and 1997 , without coming close to medal ranks. At the European Championships in 1994 , 1996 and 1998 she came fourth with the English team.

From the late 1990s, she played for several years for the French club Metz. In 2003 she ended her international career.

Private

Nicola Deaton studied psychology at the University of Nottingham . In August she married the English table tennis international Alex Perry and she has two children with him.
