Nicola Preuss

Nicola Katharina Preuß (born April 16, 1966 in Oberhausen ) is a German law scholar and professor at the Heinrich Heine University in Düsseldorf . Since April 2018 she has headed the law faculty of the university as dean.

Life

Preuss studied law at the University of Bochum , where she passed her first state examination in 1991. She then worked as a research assistant at Hermann Dilcher's chair in Bochum , under whose supervision she was promoted to Dr. iur. PhD. In 1995 Preuss passed her second state examination. She then worked as a research assistant to Klaus Schreiber at his chair in Bochum. Under his supervision, Preuß completed her habilitation in 2001, whereupon the law faculty of the University of Bochum awarded her the venia legendi for the subjects civil law, civil procedural law and commercial law.

From 2001 Preuß represented chairs at the universities of Bochum, Berlin , Bielefeld and Düsseldorf . In 2006 she was appointed to the full professorship for civil law, civil procedural law and commercial law at the University of Düsseldorf, which she has held since then. From April 2017 to the end of March 2018 she was Vice Dean of the Düsseldorf Faculty of Law. She then became dean of the faculty.

Preuss' research focuses primarily on insolvency law, company law, notary law and civil procedure law, including the constitution of the judiciary. In addition, she gained notoriety through her comments in numerous comments on the ZPO , the InsO , the HGB and the BGB .
