Erik Ekroth

Erik August Steffens Ekroth (born January 29, 1883 in Boston , Massachusetts , † May 9, 1954 in Stockholm , Sweden ) was a Swedish graphic artist and cartoonist .

Life

Ekroth, son of the wallpaper maker Carl Alfred Ekroth and his wife Josefina Widmark, came to Stockholm in 1885. There he went from 1899 to 1901 in the etching course at the Stockholm Art Academy , which was directed by Axel Tallberg . From 1901 to 1904 he attended the painting school of Caleb Althin (1866-1919). He then went to Düsseldorf , where he studied from 1904 to 1908 at the Royal Prussian Art Academy with Carl Ernst Forberg .

Ekroth was a member of Grafiska sällskapet, founded in 1910 . At exhibitions in Stockholm, especially at the art academy, he showed around 300 sheets, some of which were published in book form.
