Nicolas Gigault
Nicolas Gigault (* around 1627 in Paris ; † August 20, 1707 there ) was a French organist and composer.
Live and act
Nicolas Gigault received his education in his hometown, but it is not known who his teachers were. In any case, he worked as an organist in various churches in Paris.
He created sacred chants that can be performed with a wide variety of ensembles, and he also published around 180 organ works that were influenced by Jean Titelouze . In 1683 his “Livre de musique dédié à la Très Saincte Vierge” was published, which includes 20 Noëls variés (variations on traditional Christmas carols) for organ or harpsichord. In 1685 his "Livre de musique pour l'orgue ... plus de 180 pieces ... pour servir sur tous les jeux à 1, 2, 3, et 4 claviers et pedalles en basse et en taille"
