Nicolaus Brylinger (* around 1515 ; † 1565 ) was a Basel book printer .

Life

Nicolaus Brylinger was naturalized in Basel on March 25, 1536 and at the same time joined the guild of household members , probably after he had married Anna von Brunn, the widow of the printer Thomas Wolff . In the same year he began to print together with the printer Bartholomäus Westheimer . Two years later he separated from him and worked alone or in cooperation with other book printers such as Bartholomäus Calybaeus (Staehelin) , Johannes Oporin and Sebastian Franck . The Offizin Brylingers stood at Heuberg in Basel. Because Brylinger had printed the writing Bedencken vonn the war of the German legal scholar Basilius Monner , he was imprisoned in 1557 at the Frankfurt fair .

Christina, Brylinger's daughter, married one of Gemusaeus' book printers , Sara Wolff, his step-daughter, the printer Bartholomäus Stähelin .

The heirs of Brylinger and Marx Russinger continued to run the printing company. Later it was probably taken over by the printer Leonhard Ostein .
