Nicoletta Spelgatti

Nicoletta Spelgatti (born July 28, 1971 in Aosta ) is an Italian politician. She was the first woman to be elected to the office of President of the Aosta Valley .

Life

Nicoletta Spelgatti was born in Aosta and is a lawyer. In 2011 she was appointed by the Lega Nord as legal counsel for the delegation in the Italian Chamber of Deputies . From 2014 to 2017 she chaired the Aosta Valley section of the Lega Nord Lega Salvini Vallée d'Aoste .

In the 2015 city council elections in Aosta, she also ran for the office of city president; in this election she came in third place and became a member of the city council. In the regional elections in the Aosta Valley in 2018, she received a seat on the regional council of the Conseil régional de la Vallée d'Aoste / Consiglio regional della Valle d'Aosta .

On June 27, 2018, Nicoletta Spelgatti won the election for the Presidium of the Regional Council of the Aosta Valley. She was the first woman in this office and was supported in the election by the groups Lega, Stella Alpina - Pour notre Vallée PNV , Autonomie Liberté Participation Écologie ALPE and Mouv ' . For the first time, the Lega was the strongest force in the Aosta Valley party spectrum. When the colorful coalition broke up again in November 2018 due to internal tensions and lost the majority in the regional council, Nicoletta Spelgatti was subject to a vote of no confidence in the council and had to resign. Her successor was Antonio Fosson .
