Niels Birger Wamberg

Niels Birger Wamberg (born November 3, 1930 ) is a Danish literary critic , literary scholar and writer who was awarded the Søren Gyldendal Prize in 1998.

Life

After attending school, Wamberg studied literature and comparative literature at the University of Copenhagen , which he graduated with a master's degree in 1959 , and then worked for Danmarks Radio between 1960 and 1969 . In 1969 he became a lecturer at what was then the Danish School of Teachers ( Danmarks Lærerhøjskole ), which is now part of Aarhus University .

In addition to his professional activities, he has written numerous books and articles on literary criticism and science, interviews and essays on poets and actors such as Digterne og Gyldendal (1970) and HC Andersen og Heiberg (1971). He also wrote books about poetry and theater in the Golden Age , an epoch of high cultural prosperity between 1800 and 1850, about Klaus Rifbjerg and Johannes Vilhelm Jensen .

In addition, Wamberg wrote two volumes of memoirs , namely Min far og mig (1986) and Ansigtet på ruden (1993). In 1998 he received the Søren Gyldendal Prize.

Wamberg has been married to the writer Bodil Wamberg since 1956 , who was also a lecturer at the Danish Teachers' College for almost twenty years.
