Nievelitz , a Wendish settlement, is part of the Stoetze municipality in the Uelzen district in Lower Saxony . The name of the place, which was previously written Nivelitze, is interpreted as "village in the lowlands".

The place, for which the numerous old oaks are typical, lies southeast of the core town of Stoetze. The B 191 runs not far to the northwest .

Over the centuries, the settlement consisted of two half courtyards and one quarter courtyard.

A good two kilometers east of Nievelitz on the border of the districts of Nievelitz, Schmölau and Hof Rohrstorf is a protected natural monument , the Bridal Stones of Schmölau . There is a lying and a standing granite block .

anecdote

Gustav Nottbohm - a teacher in Stöcken and Rätzlingen from 1882 to 1927 - recorded anecdotes from the French era in the eastern district of Uelzen . There is the story of an Alsatian soldier who was poorly fed in the district in Bankewitz and therefore moved to Nievelitz, where the care was better. Here he hungrily gulped down a whole bowl of porridge that had just been put on. The groats swelled up in the soldier's stomach so much that he feared it would burst. Then his comrades dug him under his arms. The tortured man screamed again and again in pain: “Oh Bankewitz, oh Nievelitz, oh the damned porridge!” - an exclamation that is said to have persisted in the area into the 20th century.
