The Niger Basin Authority (NBA) ( French Autorité du Bassin du Niger - ABN ) is an intergovernmental organization in West Africa , which aims to cooperate with the states bordering Niger in the management and development of the resources of the Niger Basin . The organization is based in Niamey and includes all states in the Niger Basin ( Benin , Burkina Faso , Cameroon , Chad , Ivory Coast , Guinea , Mali , Niger and Nigeria ). The working languages ​​are English and French.

The forerunner organization, the Niger Commission , was founded in Faranah , Guinea in 1964 and revived in its current form in 1981. The creation of the Niger Commission was inspired by the Tennessee Valley Authority .
