Nihondaira Observatory

The Nihondaira Observatory is an astronomical observatory in Shizuoka Prefecture on the island of Honshū in Japan . It is located in the provincial capital Shizuoka on a hill above the Shimizu district and has the registration number 385. This is where the amateur astronomer Takeshi Urata made the majority of his discoveries.

It is the namesake of the asteroid (2880) Nihondaira discovered by the Japanese astronomer Tsutomu Seki .
