Nikolai Daniilowitsch "Nik" Perumov ( Russian: Николай Даниилович "Ник" Перумов , scientific transliteration Nikolai Daniilovič Perumov ; born November 21, 1963 in Leningrad , USSR ) is a Russian fantasy and fantasy science fiction author, a Russian . He became known through the publication of his book The Ring of Darkness , the plot of which takes place in the Middle-earth world of Tolkien . Later, his series on its own universe, The Orderly, became very popular.

biography

Perumov studied biophysics at the Leningrad Polytechnic , specialized in molecular biology and worked for ten years at the Leningrad Research Institute for Particularly Pure Biological Materials .

He started writing in the late 1970s and was very interested in fantasy. He was most enthusiastic about the works of Tolkien, which he read in the English original. For years he was part of a Tolkien fan base.

His first book was published in 1993, revised in 1994 as The Ring of Darkness (Dilogy, a third part followed in 1995). It caused a stir and criticism among Tolkien's fans because he dared to settle new stories in Tolkien's cosmos. Since then he has only been describing his own worlds, mostly the universe he invented, The Orderly . The series now consists of almost twenty fantasy novels. Perumov also wrote several books in collaboration with other authors, including Sergei Vasilyevich Lukyanenko and Svyatoslav Loginov .

2002-2004 his first science fiction novels The Skull on the Sleeve and The Skull in the Sky were published.

He has lived in the USA since 1998 and is successful in the profession he has learned. But he continues to write very productively, is married and has three sons.
