Coelho (born March 22, 1983 in São Paulo , Brazil ), real name Dyego Rocha Coelho , is a Brazilian football player .

He plays the position of the right full-back and currently plays for Atletico Mineiro .

Career

Coelho began his professional career in 2003 at Corinthians São Paulo , where he was part of the professional squad until December 2006. In total, he played for Corinthians for 13 years if you count the years in the youth department. From January 2007 Coelho was loaned to Atlético Mineiro , who each had a loan deal until the end of the season - initially only until December 2007, then again until the end of the 2008 season in December - with Corinthians and the player. For the 2008/09 season he was awarded to the Italian Serie A at Bologna FC . The contract with Corinthians runs until July 2009. A return to Corinthians is unlikely, however, as he fell out of favor with parts of the fans due to an own goal against CA River Plate in the Copa Libertadores 2006, which resulted in the elimination of the team is. For the 2009/10 season he was committed by Atlético Mineiro.

One of the strengths of Coelho are the set pieces. With his strong right foot, he performs almost all corners and free kicks, which always cause danger. He's also a surefire penalty taker. In addition, he tries again and again to intervene in the offensive game of his team and to support the attacking game with his flanks.

Coelho caused polemics in the 2007 season with a tough foul on Kerlon . On September 16, 2007, in the city derby between rivals Atlético Mineiro and Cruzeiro Belo Horizonte during the Brazilian championship ( Campeonato Brasileiro de Futebol ), Kerlon started his famous "seal trick" in which he balanced the ball on his head. Coelho saw this as a provocation and mockery of his team (Cruzeiro was leading 4: 3 in a very dramatic and emotional city derby at the time, after having lost a 2: 0 lead) and gave Kerlon a tough body check. For this scene Coelho was subsequently expelled and the sports court was banned for 120 days. This action has also sparked a very heated debate in the media as to whether this Kerlon trick is actually "art" or not. Coelho is 1.78 m tall, weighs 75 kg and played a total of 6 games in the Seleção in 2003 : 5 during the Pan American Games and one during the CONCACAF Gold Cup . Officially, however, he is only credited with 1 international match.
