Nike Free
Nike Free is the name of a series of sneakers from the US company Nike .
history
The Free 5.0 was introduced in 2004 as the first Nike Free. The idea behind him was to develop what is known as a barefoot shoe . With a low, ergonomic shoe sole, it should imitate the feeling of not wearing shoes. Another advantage of this design is the additional training of the muscles when moving, which is why it is designed for shorter runs. Another feature of all Nike Free is the high flexibility of the sole, which allows the shoes to bend to an above-average degree. Since it belongs to the shoe category of sneakers, it is also worn by many owners in everyday life.
After the 5.0, the 3.0 with a lower forefoot-heel offset was introduced in 2008, which was supposed to convey the barefoot feeling even better.
In 2010 the new model of the Free 5.0 was introduced as Free Run + and was the first Free with Nike + support.
The 2013 model was named Free 5.0+. In the same year, a variant of the 5.0 with a Flyknit upper was introduced.
In 2014, the support for Nike + was discontinued and the shoe was again called Free 5.0. The 3.0 was available with a Flyknit upper, the 4.0 with a mesh or Flyknit upper.
In 2016, the entire model range was renamed and is now divided into RN, RN Flyknit and RN Motion Flyknit. The RN and RN Motion Flyknit can be seen as direct successors to the 5.0 and 3.0. Like the 4.0 before, the RN Flyknit is in several respects between the two sibling models, but the sole does not differ from the RN. It can therefore be seen more as a variation of the RN and thus also succeeds the 5.0. This generation marks the preliminary end of the 4.0 sole design with 6 mm forefoot-heel offset.
In 2019 the name was changed again. The Free range consists of only two models, the RN 5.0 and RN Flyknit 3.0.
In addition to the main series, offshoot models have been published over time, such as the Free 7.0, Free Inneva Woven, Free SB, Free RN Distance, various models designed for training (Free TR) and many more. A related, cheaper technology is Nike Flex with the Flex RN, Flex Experience RN and Flex TR series.

Nike Free Run
The difference between the heel and the toe area ( English heel-to-toe drop , also called “forefoot-heel offset”) is 8 mm. The upper material consists of so-called "Engineered Mesh", which Nike describes as more durable compared to "Flyknit" upper material, but is inferior to this in terms of comfort. Characteristic is the heel area, which is designed differently from the rest of the shoe in different forms in all models. There is a reflective strip above it. The sole has hexagonal cuts.
Nike Free RN Flyknit
The upper of this shoe is made of "Flyknit", which is knitted and is reminiscent of socks. The laces are attached to so-called "flywires". The sole largely corresponds to that of the Free Run.
Nike Free RN Motion Flyknit
The difference between the heel and the toe area is 4 mm. The upper is made from "Flyknit" but has no "Flywires" but barnacles , which are attached to the upper. The sole has minor differences above the footprint compared to the Run and RN Flyknit, but has the same design on the underside. The upper opening through which the foot is passed is higher and looks more like a sock, while the opening of the other two variants has a more classic shape for sneakers.
