Swoosh
The Swoosh is the symbol of the shoe and sporting goods manufacturer Nike . It is one of the most famous trademarks in the world and is therefore in a row with the Walt Disney signature and the Coca-Cola lettering. For some time it was the most worn tattoo motif in the USA.
history
The Swoosh was designed in 1971 by the graphic design student Carolyn Davidson and - a little later than the current brand name "Nike" - introduced as a logo. Initially marked with the word “Nike”, the Swoosh is now used as a company logo. At the time, Nike only paid 35 US dollars for the now world-famous logo, but after the market breakthrough in 1983, they added a share package of 500 shares.
In the graphics / design industry, the Swoosh has also entered technical usage: It is used to describe generally geometric shapes such as circles or curved lines, which, for example, are intended to create the impression of movement or speed in the background of a picture composition.
