Niklas Axelsson

Niklas Axelsson (born May 15, 1972 in Mora ) is a former Swedish cyclist .

Before he turned pro, he was able to win stages at the GP Tell and the Rapport Tour . Then he went to Palmans as a trainee in 1997 , but got a contract with Scrigno-Gaerne for the following season . In 2001 he moved to Mercury-Viatel , where he was able to celebrate his greatest success to date. He decided the sixth stage of the Tour de la Région Wallonne for himself. He was later tested positive for doping at the World Cup in Lisbon and was suspended for two years. In 2005 he drove for Universal Caffè .

In September 2009, Axelsson tested positive for EPO again and was banned for life.
