Androni Giocattoli-Sidermec is an Italian cycling team based in Turin .
organization
The saddle manufacturer Selle Italia has been a cycling sponsor since 1989. He mostly acted as a co-sponsor, for example the team was called Colombia-Selle Italia until 2005. The team has been taking part in international cycling races as the Professional Continental Team since 2005 . The sports director Gianni Savio is known for supporting young climbing specialists from South America. His most famous discovery is the Venezuelan José Rujano , who won a stage and the mountain classification at the Giro d'Italia in 2005 and was just under third in the overall classification. Rujano moved to the Belgian team Quick Step-Innergetic after the 2006 Giro . Savio's latest discovery is the Colombian José Serpa , who won three stages in the Vuelta al Táchira at the beginning of the 2006 season and two consecutive stages in the Tour de Langkawi , in which he also won a stage in 2008.
Earlier drove in the team already Russel Van Hout , Mykhaylo Khalilov and Iván Parra .
In the 2012 season, the team was initially registered under the name Androni Giocattoli with the UCI. On January 20, 2012, the team management announced that the Venezuelan state would become the second name sponsor and the team would be called Androni Giocattoli-Venezuela .
After two positive doping tests by drivers Davide Appollonio and Fabio Taborre , the team was banned for 30 days by the Union Cycliste Internationale in August 2015 .
As a result of research by the Italian daily Corriere della Sera , the team was accused in 2016 of circumventing the rules on minimum wages for Professional Continental Teams by having drivers repay salaries received to other accounts. An investigation by the Comitato Olimpico Nazionale Italiano ended in November 2016 with the acquittal of the manager Gianni Savio. The defense stated that drivers were only legally involved in the acquisition of small sponsors.
