José Humberto Rujano Guillén (born February 18, 1982 in Santa Cruz de Mora ) is a Venezuelan racing cyclist .

Career

In 2003 Rujano received a contract with the Italian team Colombia-Selle Italia and first attracted attention at the 2005 Giro d'Italia . He won the 19th stage and won the mountain classification by a large margin. He finished third in the overall standings, just 45 seconds behind Paolo Savoldelli .

In the 2006 season he drove for the Belgian ProTeam Quick Step-Innergetic , for which he also took part in the Giro d'Italia 2006 and the Tour de France 2006 , but could not finish both races. In the following years he was unable to confirm his results from 2005 at the Grand Tour . However, he won for various cycling teams and a. the stage races Vuelta a Colombia , Vuelta a Venezuela , Vuelta al Táchira and Tour de Langkawi . He was also three times Venezuelan champion in the individual time trial .

In 2011 he returned to the Androni Giocattoli team, the same team with which he started his career in Europe. Here he was able to win the 13th stage of the Giro d'Italia 2011 on the Grossglockner , and he also achieved sixth place in the overall ranking of the tour .

In 2013 Rujano became the Venezuelan champion in the individual time trial . After the 2013 season he ended his international career, but won the overall standings and a stage of the Vuelta al Táchira for a Venezuelan team in his home country in 2015 .
