Sveio is a municipality in Fylke Vestland, Norway .
geography
To the south, the municipality borders on the municipalities of Tysvær and Haugesund (both Rogaland ), to the north of the Bømlafjord are the municipalities of Bømlo , Stord and Kvinnherad and to the east, beyond Ålfjord , is the municipality of Vindafjord (also in Rogaland). The landscape is characterized by heather-clad rounded rocks and small lakes.
The population lives in several localities, the largest are Førde, Sveio, Valevåg, Auklandshamn and Buavåg.
traffic
The municipality gained supraregional importance with the completion of the Trekantsambandet (Norwegian for "triangular connection"), a bridge-tunnel combination that has connected Sveio with the islands of Stord and Bømlo since 2001 , which meant that several ferries could be dispensed with. The travel time Stavanger - Bergen ( E39 ) was shortened so more than half an hour.
Attractions
At sights there are u. a. the lighthouse Ryvarden fyr and the house of the composer Fartein Valen .
