Modalen is a municipality in Fylke Vestland, Norway . It is bordered by the municipalities of Høyanger to the north, Vik to the east, Vaksdal to the south and Alver and Masfjorden to the west . The administrative center is in Mon.

economy

The municipality draws its main income from the generation of energy from hydropower , which is generated by various reservoirs . The geographical location in a very mountainous and rainy area and the low population density mean that Modalen became the richest municipality in Norway through energy sales.
