The 39th Vuelta al Táchira took place from January 10 to 23, 2004 in Venezuela . The bike race was held in fourteen stages over a distance of 1,831 kilometers. It was classified in the UCI category 2.5.

The overall winner of the stage race was local José Rujano from Selle Italia-Colombia ahead of his Colombian team mate Fredy González , who also secured victory in the points classification. The podium was completed by Carlos Maya ( Lotería Del Táchira ). In addition to the overall winner's yellow jersey, Rujano also won the mountain classification and the junior classification of the U-23 drivers.

Attendees

At the start were teams from Colombia , Guatemala , Cuba and Venezuela , including two national teams. A total of fifteen teams took part. The teams Triple Gordo and Gobernación Del Zulia Alc De Cabimas each sent two delegations to the start.
