Táriba is a Venezuelan city, the administrative seat of the Municipio Cárdenas, in the state of Táchira .
It was founded in 1602 by Alfonso Pérez de Tolosa , even if it has been a meeting place for encomenderos since the mid-16th century. The most important church is the Maria Trost basilica . José Rincón Bonilla (1915–1984), auxiliary bishop in Caracas, was born in Táriba.
