Niko Reith (born June 5, 1969 in Lahr ) is a German politician ( FDP ). From 2014 to 2016 he was a member of the state parliament of Baden-Württemberg .

Life

Reith attended the Lucian Reich School in Hüfingen and the Fürstenberg High School in Donaueschingen . After graduating from high school, he trained as an insurance salesman at DBV Winterthur in Villingen-Schwenningen . He works as an independent insurance broker in Donaueschingen. Reith is married and has two children.

Niko Reith became a member of the FDP in 2006. In 2010 he became chairman of the FDP city association Donaueschingen. In the municipal elections in Baden-Württemberg in 2014 , he was elected to the municipal council of Donaueschingen.

After Leopold Grimm's resignation, Reith moved up to the state parliament on August 1, 2014. There he was a member of the Committee on Petitions and the Committee on Europe and International Affairs. He was spokesman for the FDP / DVP parliamentary group for European politics, the German armed forces, medium-sized businesses and crafts.

In the state elections in 2016 , he achieved 8.3% of the vote in his constituency of Tuttlingen-Donaueschingen . Since 2 FDP candidates were able to achieve higher results in other constituencies in the Freiburg administrative region , Reith did not succeed in re-entering the state parliament.

In the local elections in 2019, Reith was re-elected to the municipal council of the large district town of Donaueschingen and for the first time to the district council of the Schwarzwald-Baar district. In the district council he was parliamentary group spokesman for the FDP parliamentary group and in the local council he was deputy parliamentary group spokesman for the FDP / FW parliamentary group. In 2017 Reith became honorary deputy mayor in Donaueschingen.
