Nikolai Wladimirowitsch Levitschew ( Russian: Николай Владимирович Левичев ; born May 28, 1953 in Leningrad , Soviet Union ) is a Russian politician . From April 2011 to October 2013 he was chairman of the Just Russia party . He is a member of the Duma .

Vita

Levitschew was born in 1953 as the son of a radio technician and a mathematician. He is ethnic Russian . He went to school in Saint Petersburg (then Leningrad) and was in a class with his current party friend, Sergei Mironov . After graduating from school in 1970, he went to Leningrad State University to study physics. This study, he graduated in 1976 and then completed a postgraduate course . He then worked as a research assistant and as head of a youth camp. Until 1991 he held various positions at the Komsomol and in trade unions.

After the collapse of the Soviet Union , Levitschew moved into the private sector and became director of a book publisher before going into politics in 2002.

Together with Sergei Mironov he founded the "Party of Life", which in 2006 finally became the Just Russia Party .

Levitschew was a candidate in the mayoral election in Moscow in 2013 , but received only 2.79 percent of the vote and ended up in last place.
