Nikolai Nissen break
Nikolai Nissen Paus (born June 4, 1877 in Christiania ; † December 23, 1956 in Tønsberg ) was a Norwegian surgeon, director of Vestfold Hospital from 1918 to 1947 and president of the Norwegian Red Cross 1945–1947 (vice president 1930–1945). He was one of the leading Norwegian doctors of his time.
Life
Nikolai Nissen Paus belonged to the Paus family and was the son of the pedagogue Bernhard Cathrinus Pauss and Anna Henriette Wegner, and grandson of the industrialist Benjamin Wegner and his wife Henriette Seyler . He was the great-grandson of the Hamburg banker Ludwig Erdwin Seyler . His son Bernhard Paus was also a surgeon and grand master of the Norwegian Order of Freemasons .
He was also a Freemason and the third most senior official in the Norwegian Order of Freemasons.
