Nikolai Rainov

Nikolai Ivanov Rainow ( Bulgarian Николай Иванов Райнов ; born January 13, 1889 in Kessarevo , † May 2, 1954 in Sofia ) was a Bulgarian writer and art historian .

Life

Rainow graduated from the Art Academy in Sofia and then studied in Paris . In 1919, his son Bogomil Rainow was born, who also became a well-known writer. From 1927 he worked as a professor at the Sofia Art Academy. Rainov was a member of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences .

His works were influenced by symbolism and mysticism and processed legends, especially from Bulgarian history and also oriental motifs. He also published art studies.
