Life

In 1939, Astakhov entered the Moscow Energy Institute and began studying at the Faculty of Electromechanics, specializing in electrical machines.

He interrupted his studies because of the Second World War from June 1941 to May 1945, fought in aviation on the Western, 3rd Baltic and Stalingrad Fronts . After the war, he continued his studies, which he graduated in 1952, and stayed at the Moscow Energy Institute.

He dealt with the reduction of noise and vibrations for the submarines of the Soviet Navy. He created the first "drowned" camera with which the vibro-acoustic tests of electrical machines were carried out.

He investigated the problems of vibrations and noise that occur in electrical machines under the influence of an electromagnetic field. The result of the research was the development of a methodology for the construction of machines of different types, which have different levels of vibration and noise.
