Nicholas A. Adams

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Nikolaus A. Adams (* 1963 ) is a German engineer. He is Professor of Aerodynamics and Fluid Mechanics at the Technical University of Munich (TUM) and has been Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering there since October 2016 . His work focuses on the one hand on the modeling of transitional and turbulent flows, fluid-structure interactions, microfluidics, multiphase flows and numerical methods and on the other hand on experimental and numerical investigations in the areas of automotive aerodynamics, aircraft aerodynamics, high-speed aerodynamics, environmental and sports equipment aerodynamics.

biography

After studying aerospace engineering at the University of Stuttgart and completing his doctorate at TUM (1993), Adams received a two-year postdoctoral fellowship from Stanford University and the NASA Ames Research Center . In 1999 Adams completed his habilitation at the ETH Zurich , where he worked as a private lecturer until 2002 and then moved to the TU Dresden as a professor of fluid mechanics and magnetofluid dynamics . Adams has been a full professor of the Chair of Aerodynamics and Fluid Mechanics at TUM since 2004. Adams is spokesman for the SFB Transregio TRR 40. He is the author of a monograph on Large-Eddy Simulation and Executive Editor of J. Comput. Phys. He has been dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering since October 2016.
