Nikolaus Hermann Bödige (born June 13, 1859 in Bramsche near Lingen, † October 16, 1926 in Hüggel near Ohrbeck ) was a German teacher, naturalist and local researcher.

He comes from a family of captains in Papenburg who lived in Papenburg-Oberende. He studied mathematics in Göttingen and received his doctorate as Dr. phil, later he became a high school professor. From 1885 to 1897 he was employed as a high school teacher in Duderstadt , where he wrote the poem Mein Duderstadt am Brehmestrand in 1897 . On April 1, 1897, he moved to the Carolinum grammar school in Osnabrück. Here he taught until 1924. From 1878 to 1901 he mainly wrote mathematical publications, later numerous local and natural history writings from the Osnabrück region . The geology and flora of the hill in particular became one of his literary focuses. During one of his educational hikes on October 16, 1926, he died of a heart attack above the Kielmannsegge shaft in the Hüggel .

He was buried in the Heger cemetery in Osnabrück. The Bödigestein was erected on the first anniversary of his death in 1927 by the Beautification and Hiking Association of 1835 eV . At this time Nikolaus Bödige was so well known that the mere inscription Bödige † October 16, 1926 was enough. On the 80th anniversary of his death, the Hasbergen am Stein local and cultural association put up a small information board. After his death, his publications contributed to the creation of the Friesenweg . A street in Papenburg was later named after him.
