Nikolaus von Leitomischl

Nikolaus von Leitomischl (Czech Mikuláš z Litomyšle : Latin Nicolaus de Litomysl , also Nicolaus de Lutomyssl ; † around 1404 ) was a Bohemian theologian and in 1386 and 1402/03 rector of Charles University .

Life

Nikolaus studied at the Charles University, where he obtained the academic degree of a baccalaureus in 1375 and a master's degree in fine arts in 1378 . In 1384 he was elected dean of the artist faculty and in 1386 rector. In 1402 he received his doctorate in theology and in the academic year 1402/03 he held the office of rector again.

Nikolaus was one of the leading personalities of the young university. He was the teacher of Jan Hus , who called him a prudent advisor ("consiliarius perspicuus"). In the internal struggles over the teaching of John Wyclif , he stood on the side of his supporters.
