The Nilgiri Himal is a mountain group in Nepal .

The Nilgiri Himal is located in the west of the Annapurna Himal , a mountain region of the Himalayas . It extends in a north-south direction. The breakthrough valley of the Kali Gandaki runs on its western flank . Beyond the valley rises the Dhaulagiri Himal mountain range . The Nilgiri Himal consists of several peaks, with the Nilgiri North at 7061  m being the highest point. The 6,839  m high Nilgiri South is considered an independent mountain due to a notch height of 609 m. In between lies the 6,940  m high central summit with a notch height of 240 m. There is also an east summit ( 6706  m ) and a south- east summit ( 6765  m ).

The first ascent of the north summit was achieved on October 26, 1962 by a Dutch expedition led by the French Lionel Terray . The ascent route led over the north wall and the west ridge.
