Nils Aage Jegstad (born December 12, 1950 in Vestby ) is a Norwegian politician of the conservative party Høyre . Jegstad was from 2007 to 2013 the Fylkesordfører of Akershus and since 2013 deputy in the Storting .

Life

After finishing school, Jegstad attended the agricultural college from 1971 to 1974, where he studied agricultural economics. He then worked as a farmer until 2012. In the period from 1976 to 1983 and again from 1988 to 1999 he was a member of the local parliament of Vestby . From 1988 he was the mayor of the community. From 1995 to 2013 he was also a member of the Fylkesting of what was then Akershus Province , and from 2007 he was the Fylkesordfører . Between 2002 and 2008 he was also in charge of his party in Akershus.

Jegstad moved into the Norwegian national parliament in Storting for the first time in the 2013 general election . Since then he has represented the Akershus constituency and is a member of the Transport and Communication Committee. He announced that he would not run again in the 2021 election.
