On August 28, 2018, Hulu announced that it had commissioned a two-season, 16-episode series to be produced by Rick and Morty makers Justin Roiland and Mike McMahan . All 8 episodes of the first season were first released on May 8, 2020 in English on Hulu.

Solar Opposites became the most watched series on Hulu a short time after it was released. The series was rated largely positive with a score of 7.91 out of 10 on Rotten Tomatoes and a score of 71 out of 100 on Metacritic . Alex McLevy of The AV Club sees the series as a cross between Rick and Morty and the sitcom Behind the Moon on the left . In contrast to Rick and Morty, the series based on Daniel Kurland from Bubbleblabber is crazier and contains more violence. Christoph Peterson of film starts agrees with this opinion, but also says that you can recognize the Rick and Morty humor in the series.
