Nils Jent

Nils Henrik Jent (born February 25, 1962 in Brugg ) is a Swiss expert in the field of diversity management.

Life

Nils Jent grew up in Umiken , Canton Aargau (Switzerland). In 1980, at the age of 18, he had a serious accident with his motorcycle and was in a coma for four weeks. Since then he has been blind, speech-impaired and physically disabled, as well as a wheelchair user. After academic training and a doctorate as Dr. oec. HSG, he has been Professor of Inclusion and Diversity Management at the University of St. Gallen since 2012. He is director of the Competence Center for Diversity and Inclusion at FIM-HSG and Applied Research at CDI-HSG. Dr. Jent is also a partner and co-managing director of Innocuora GmbH. Jent has been a member of the Board of Trustees of the Béatrice Ederer-Weber Foundation based in Zurich since 2013 .

During his stay in the rehabilitation clinic 1980–1984 he learned chess. At the age of 24, he decided to catch up with the Matura. He attended the Protestant Middle School in Schiers. His mother recorded all of the school material for him on a total of 2,300 tape cassettes. In 1989, as the best of the final year, he received the Matura certificate.

He then studied business administration at the University of St. Gallen and graduated with a licentiate. In 2002 he received his doctorate with distinction and was employed at the Institute for Leadership and Personnel Management (IFPM-HSG), where he set up the Diversity Center. In 2009 he expanded his job portfolio to head applied research at the Center for Disability and Integration (CDI-HSG).

In September 2011 the biography «Dr. Nils Jent - A life at the limit » by Röbi Koller . At the Zurich Film Festival 2011, the film “Breathing under water - The second life of Dr. Nils Jent » Premiere and was awarded the audience award.

In 2013, Jent supplemented the Koller biography with her perspective from the outside in, and the documentary film by the film production company Instantview, with his book “Essenzen des perception”, which describes his life's exploration from 1980 - 2013 with the perspective from the inside out.

Jent lives and works in St. Gallen.
