Nima (name)
Nima (also: Niema or Nyima ; نيما; tib . : nyi ma ) is a Persian male given name, an Arabic and Hebrew female given name and a component of Tibetan names for both genders.
Origin and meaning
In Persian, Nima means "the righteous. In the Persian dialect Mazani it means bow. The name gained popularity after the famous contemporary Iranian poet Nima Yuschidsch chose it as his stage name. He is considered the father of modern Persian poetry.
In Hebrew, Nima means “string”.
In Tibetan it means "sun", compare the personal names of the Sherpa .
