Ang Nyima

Ang Nyima (* 1931 ; † 1986 ) was a Nepalese mountaineer from the Sherpa people .

Ang Nyima lived in Darjeeling and was the porter for the two Swiss attempts to climb Mount Everest for the first time in 1952. A year later he was a porter on the ultimately successful British expedition. Nyima set up the last high camp with Edmund Hillary and Tenzing Norgay , but then dismounted.

On May 17, 1960, Ang Nyima, together with Chris Bonington and RH Grant, made the first ascent of Annapurna II ( 7937  m ).
