The Annapurna II is the second highest mountain in the Annapurna Himal in the Himalayas in Nepal .

Main summit of this mountain range is the 8091  m high Annapurna I . At 7937  m , Annapurna II is the sixteenth highest mountain on earth.

Together with the 6983  m high Lamjung Himal , the Annapurna II marks the eastern end of the main ridge of the Annapurna group. West of Annapurna II rises the 7525  m high Annapurna IV . On the northern flank of Annapurna II is the place Pisang on the upper reaches of the Marsyangdi . The next major city is Pokhara in the south.

In 1957 a British expedition tried to climb it. But it was not until 1960 that it was possible to climb the west ridge. On May 17, 1960, the mountain was first climbed by a Nepalese-Indian-British expedition ( Chris Bonington , Ang Nyima and Richard H. Grant ). Since then there have only been a few more ascents. In 2008, the German Philipp Kunz was able to reach the summit in winter for the first time.
