Robert Theodore "Bobby" Bauer (born February 16, 1915 in Waterloo , Ontario ; † September 16, 1964 ) was a Canadian ice hockey player and coach who played for the Boston Bruins in the National Hockey League from 1935 to 1952 .
Career
Together with Milt Schmidt and Woody Dumart , he formed the Kraut Line in Boston . They were among the strongest storm series of their time and won the Stanley Cup in 1939 and 1941 . For World War II in 1942, the three guys from the Kraut Line were the first North American professionals who joined the army. Bauer then returned to the NHL for two years before ending his career in 1947. Once again he returned in 1952 for a game for the association of the Kraut Line . The Bruins defeated Chicago and Bauer scored one goal and set up another.
Bauer coached the Canadian team at the Olympic Games in Cortina d'Ampezzo in 1956 and in Squaw Valley in 1960 .
In 1996 he was honored with the induction into the Hockey Hall of Fame .
