Nir Shavit
Nir Shavit (born October 18, 1959 ) is an Israeli computer scientist. He is a professor at Tel Aviv University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology .
Shavit received his bachelor's degree in 1984 and 1986, his master's degree in computer science at the Technion and was in 1990 at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem at Danny Dolev doctorate ( Concurrent time stamping ). He deals with data structures and algorithms for multiprocessor systems. From 1999 to 2011 he was with Sun Labs and Oracle Labs.
In 2004 he received the Gödel Prize and in 2012 the Dijkstra Prize for the first introduction of transactional storage in software form.
