Nissi is a former rural community in the Estonian district of Harju with an area of 264.9 km². It had 3225 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2010). Nissi has been part of the Saue rural community since 2017 .
Nissi is located in the southwest of the district, approx. 45 km from Tallinn . In addition to the main town Riisipere (German: Riesenberg ), the municipality also included the villages of Aude, Ellamaa, Jaanika, Kivitammi, Lehetu, Lepaste, Madila, Munalaskme, Mustu, Nurme, Odulemma, Rehemäe, Siimika, Tabara, Turba, Ürjaste, Vilumäe and Viruküla.
Nissi was first mentioned in a document in 1219/20. In the 14th century, the manor there is described as one of the most powerful and oldest in Estonia.
