Riisipere manor

The Baltic German Peter Gustav von Stackelberg had the manor house of Riisipere ( Neu-Riesenberg ) built from 1818 to 1821 . It is one of the most outstanding examples of classicism in Estonia. The palace-like manor house and the surrounding park were described in many travelogues of the 19th century. A granite plaque between the trees reminds of the park's client, Wilhelmine von Ungern-Sternberg . From 1921 to 1984 the manor house served as a home for orphans. Today it is privately owned.
